Job Description General yard duties South coast of Ireland. Sole groom position. Hi we are looking for a responsible, capable, competent groom who can work independently, use one’s initiative,  to come join our family yard and small stud as a long term position from the beginning of January. We are a family who all ride for pleasure and need some help in the stables due to our work commitments. Two of us have retired from the show scene but still ride out for pleasure, one of us still competes a little and one kid who is starting to go to shows. We are all still very hands on in our yard. We live is a beautiful part of the south of Ireland beside the sea with lots of hacking and beach riding, we have great facilities here onsite. We have a small farm of about 20 horses, majority broodmares, young stock, some older retired field ornaments and then a few babies to educated and we each have a riding horse. 5.5 days a week predominantly Mon-Fri & sat morning except if at a show.  We all ride most mornings before they go to work later in the morning unless work prevents or school. General yard duties candidates must be able to turn out and keep the yard to a high standard. To do ground work with young horses, lunging, driving and to help start the education process under saddle assistance given for this. Only a few per year. To school the older few horses/pony and prepare for competitions (schooling and fitness work). To prepare horses and lorry for shows for a few horses and the odd little pony for pony club. To be flexible to come as show groom to a few comps in the season for a low level events. To be able to assist us with taking mares to vets and stud, foaling.  We are very hands on in this area so it would be to assist when needed. Confident to be able to work with the young stock, leading and sales preparation.   Minimum Requirements Competent riding skills to ride both breakers and older competition horses.
