Experience with Horses
I have ridden and owned my own horses for 13 years, riding all different abilities from yearlings/race horses up to 5* event horses. I have worked in racing for 3 years and have done occasional freelance for eventing/sales yard inbetween. I have recently returned from Australia where I worked as a home groom and traveling groom for 5* event rider Christine Bates, traveling all over for stay away shows and being trusted to stay back at home to ride her horses when she’s been away. I also then took on track work riding for 6 months over there as well as helping at the eventing yard to increase my ability and experience.
Key Skills
More than happy to work alone or with a team of people. Very dedicated to learning new skills and increasing my knowledge. Very committed and trustworthy, work driven and enjoy having a busy schedule. Quick to get into new routines and very happy to get on and ride any horses no matter their ability or quirks.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love the thrill I get when riding and I love the bond you can make with horses and how much they have helped me over the years.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d love to improve my knowledge of all different disciplines and different ways of running a yard to get a better understanding and increase my confidence.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m a hardworking and dedicated individual who will go above and beyond to help make the yard, the team and the horses the best they can be.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to gain more experience and knowledge about different horses and yards to eventually be able to run my own hopefully and produce some young horses myself one day.
• Do you need accommodation?
It is not essential however if included it would definitely be a massive bonus!
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a dog however it does not need to come with me right away but with potential to bring it in the future if it’s a long term position.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
Not at the moment
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
1-2weeks over Christmas and new years for a family Christmas in Ireland however the dates can be moved slightly if needed.
