Experience with Horses

I first started riding when I was 6 years old, becoming a member of the Cambridgeshire Hunt Pony Club until I was 16. From this time I boarded and college completing a Level 3 Extended Degree in Horse Management as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Animal Science.

I have previous experience working with polo ponies, heavy horses, ponies straight off the mountains and moors and have worked on multiple spelling yards with thoroughbreds of all ages. I am confident both on the ground and riding a range of horses. I pride myself in the welfare of the horses I look after as well as in ability to present to a high standard.

I have previously done voluntary work in the tribal country of Lesotho, working alongside a team of vets to castrate horses and donkeys for population control of semi feral equines.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy working in an environment where no day is truely the same, being part of a team where everyone is able to contribute using their personal strengths. I love working alongside animals, ensuring I am providing the highest levels of care, accessing their body language and learning each animal as an individual.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to gain more experience within management roles, and increase my knowledge on budgeting, invoicing and performance reviews.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

While I may not be the most experienced candidate, I find job fulfilment in gaining knowledge and experience. I have never been scared to say if I do not fully understand or know, I believe this is what has led to my success and progression in my past jobs. I aim to exceed expectations wherever possible, going the extra mile and leaving my mark. I take pride in my work and believe that success is earned, not handed to you. I have a compassionate, positive and enthusiastic attitude which has supported my team into finding their own success.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to have a role which is not solely physical, but requires my previous experience is organisation, customer service and management.

• Do you need accommodation?

No, though I am happy to consider live in positions around the Cambridge/Suffolk/Bedfordshire area.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

Preferably to be able to bring one medium size dog to work. Being pet friendly is a must for a live in position.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I have one horse, one dog and a cat. My partner also has monthly hospital appointments which he may need support attending.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No.
