Experience with Horses
I have worked for four seasons in my current role as a competition/head groom role on an Olympic Eventing yard.
I have travelled the world to several championships and 5* competitions including the Paris Olympics.
I have plenty of experience travelling with horses abroad and in the UK. I have my Class 2 licence and fully up to date CPC and EU certification. I also am experienced with carnets and other paperwork needed for travelling abroad.
I have plenty of experience at stay away shows including lengthier stints on Sunshine Tours and when overseas in South America.
I have ridden all my life and am a competent rider on the flat and am comfortable handling young/sharp horses while hacking, lunging, flat working and galloping.
I have plenty of experience turning out to very high standards for competition and I take a lot of pride in having my horses look their best.
I am also experienced with the admin side of a managers role – organising vet, physio, farrier, worming, bedding/feed orders
I also love having a tidy yard and really enjoy keeping things organised
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
– experienced working alone and in a team in a managerial role
– can clip, plait, trim/pull, turnout for shows to an extremely high standard
– admin skills related to managing yards
– very good communication skills
– experienced driving up to 18 tons in the UK and abroad
– handling and riding young horses
– flat work, hacking, galloping, lunging
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
– I love the bond you build with your horses and rider – I feel that as a team I share in the highs and lows of the sport
– I enjoy the riding side of the sport but it isn’t an essential
– I take immense pride in turning horses out to the highest standard
– I enjoy the admin side of the role as it keeps my brain busy!
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
– I’d like to improve my work/life balance and have a less intense job where I spend lots of time on the road
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
– I come with a huge wealth of experience at the highest level of the sport
– I work with horses for the pure love of the animals – they come first above any rosette or title and I love building bonds with them all as individuals
– I am a fiercely loyal person and I am not the kind of person to jump from rider to rider. I have stuck by my current rider for four seasons and am so grateful for the experiences i have had but I feel the need to step down from the intense lifestyle
