Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I am looking for an equine job that I will be able to be taught more in the groom and riding area. Growing up, I grew up on a race yard with many racehorses on the yard at once. I have ridden all sorts of horses from the age of 4 and previously stopped for a few years during covid but since then I have been riding again including competing in unaffiliated show jumping. I am comfortable to be able to complete yard jobs and handle a range of horses.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am particularly good at working both alone and in a team setting. I enjoy all yard duties but would love to learn more about the grooming side of the equestrian community. I have ridden a range of horses from young ex racehorses to happy hacking cobs.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
The thing I enjoy most about working with horses is the connections and bonds that you create with the horses. I also really enjoy riding even if it is just hacking out or schooling.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my technique in my riding more and my skills in the groom area.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a confident person who has a big passion for working with horses in the horse community. I am outgoing and also a quick learner who works well with feedback. I am reliable and trusted in previous jobs to work on my own.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to gain more training in most areas the horse community so that I can increase my standards of work and understanding. I would like to gain more experience in grooming the most.
• Do you need accommodation?
If the job is further than an hour drive from my own property then I would need accommodation.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I don’t have any special requirements but I would ideally like to have my own horse on the yard if that is possible.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I do not have any ongoing commitments.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
