Fellow of the British Horse Society

British Eventing Accredited Trainer

British Horse Society Senior Assessor

Fellows’ rep on BHS Qualifications & Training Committee

F&I Association Committee member

Centre 10 Gold Standard Accredited Coach

  • In twenty two years as Director of Equestrian Sports at Millfield I have trained scores of young riders. Many have gone on to become professional riders and successful players in numerous areas of equestrianism, from eventing to dressage; racing to sports psychology; para equestrian to show jumping.
  • Millfield Equestrian became the model for equestrian sports facilities in schools under my management. With three centres at Millfield Senior School, Prep School and a dedicated polo yard, I was responsible for up to 100 horses and around 150 riders from 6 to 18 years of age.
  • A successful event rider and trainer of young horses, running my own training centres in both Devon and Somerset.
  • Chief Riding Instructor for the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club, managing the 200 horse Beas River Centre.
  • Coach education plays a major role in my commitment to coaching, training aspiring coaches for professional qualifications
  • As an inaugural student in Charlie Unwin’s Centre 10 Applied Psychology for Equestrian Coaches (APEC) in 2018, (Gold Member) I have taken my coaching to a new level, with a holistic approach to horse, rider, coach, parents and owners to enable satisfaction and enjoyment in the whole process, as much as improving performance and longevity.
  • I have been an Assessor for the British Horse Society for over 30 years, engaging in the empathetic and encouraging process of professional development from Stage 1 to Fellowship.
  • BHS mentor for aspiring candidates for Stage 4, 5 and Fellowship.
  • BHS IQA inspector, regulating good practice at BHS assessments.
  • As an active member of the Qualifications and Training Committee (now APCED), I have an up-to-date insight into the education Pathways for the training of potential candidates.
  • British Eventing Accredited Trainer.
