Experience with Horses
I have previously worked at a livery yard where i have helped livery members look after there horses to a high standard. I have helped prepare this yard for them annual BE event and helped make the yard run smoothly when the event is underway.
For the past 4 years i have been working on a carriage driving yard. In this time i have taken my level 3 Equine management apprenticeship when i passed 2 years ago. I do daily tasks like mucking out, making feeds, keeping the yard tidy, grooming of the horses and general care. I regularly ride and have done my carriage driving assessment. I can turn out horses to a high standard and have previously got a team of horses ready for big shows like windsor and suffolk show.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am good at making sure the horses are turned out to a high standard including bathing, plaiting and clipping. I can ride horses and have previous broken in a few horses for my previous employer.
My non equine skills are that i am good at working by myself but i can also work very well in a team. I can also be a good team leader when needed and like to make sure everything is done to a high standard.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I like seeing horses improve daily and seeing them enjoying their job. I also love seeing them perform well at shows and away from home.
• Is there anything you’d like to improved?
I would like to improve my confidence around young stock and my knowledge when in the saddle of more experienced horses
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
