Helped in a riding school when i was im my teenage years, tacked up, mucked out etc, teaching kids the usual. Been around horses since i was young but riding on and off so only a level intermediate but definitely looking to better my riding. I do liberty with my mare and she loves it but would definitely love to learn new things, my instructor says im a quick learner and very willing to learn.

 

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

Working with nervous and abused horses, get alot out of those kind of horses/young horses on the ground, i do liberty with my mare, i can longline, i can somewhat clip, just need more practise. I’ve only practised on my own mare, have had experience with a broodmare checking to see if shes ready, helped with her foal getting her used to headcollar as well as teaching her manners and thats the youngster i’m working with currently. I Can drive but not looking to go further than 15 miles, i’m good with people quite chatty!

 

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love how rewarding it can be, seeing the change in them and just prefer being around them in general.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Everything really, definitely my riding i’d like to further it for sure. My clipping skills as well probably, i’d like to learn to plait (well) too and learn show turnout.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m very willing to learn and quick it at it too, im very gentle with them but also dont let them get away with stuff either!

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

Definitely more experience in stable work, i have done some work with youngsters and troubled/abused horses and find i can get a lot out of them and i’d like to further that. I’d like to improve my ridden work for sure, im currently at intermediate level. Although i have my own horse i’ve not had the opportunity to ride different horses and i feel i’d have a lot to gain from that. I can clip, have only done it on my mare so would like to improve my clipping. I’d like to be able to do show turnout all that kind of stuff!
