Experience with Horses

I had the odd lesson growing up so I know how to ride a horse.

At the age of 14 I rode, groomed, tacked up and lead riders at a riding school called Mountjoy Riding Stables on Saturdays and in the school holidays. When I turned 16 I was then payed  to teach beginners how to ride, either by taking rides up to 5 horses out for a hack or lessons in the school. I would also get to ride either hack out or jump which i mainly did in the summer and then I’d un tack, rug up if needed, tack clean, poo pick, feed in buckets and hay to all the fields and then turn the horses out for the night.

I did start going to Lackham college in September 2016 but then I dropped out as it was mostly all theory which I had a hard time learning as i’m more of a practical learner. I did enjoy placement days with the college as i got to go an eventing yard (West Wilts) where I have experience building a jumping course and plaiting, the other placement i got the chance to go to was a hunt yard (Avon valley hunt) where i had to lead in from the field ,unrug, tack up and also ride them, it was a great experience to know i could handle even the taller built of horses. I know how to lunge a horse which i got a merit in as well.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

How they can do amazing things and how driven they are

  • Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’d like to improve on plaiting and also more riding experience.

  • Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m hardworking, Trust worthy and always work at any employers standards.

A live in position if possible
