Experience with Horses

I have been around ponies, horses and other animals from an early age, have looked after various animals and intermittently ridden all sorts of ponies and horses –  from Shetlands to Haflingers to Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds, with occasional instructions/lessons at a riding school. My handling and riding skills are a mixture of classical education and self-taught, with experience working on yards in Germany and the UK.

I have experience in and practice natural horsemanship and classical ground&ridden work, liberty, and a variety of other things that keep horses agile and train their brains. My own horse is a 15y old PRE gelding, who I am rehabilitating and re-training.

Key Skills

Exercising, motivating and training horses, classical and natural horsemanship; keeping horses fit and healthy – physically and mentally.

I am competent in all usual aspects of yard work and horse care, can work alone and am fairly self-sufficient, but am also happy working with a good team; I have good observational/cognitive skills and a high level of empathy, like to learn and also pass on my knowledge to others. I have experience in looking after various kinds of animals and properties; I can organize, speak (and write) two languages fluently (German and English) and have a rudimentary grasp of a few others; I am fit, healthy, disciplined and focused.

Equine Skills: Groundwork, Lunging, Freeschooling, Longreining, Liberty, Flatwork, Gymnastics, Hacking etc..

Grooming, Plaiting, Equine and human 1st aid, Supervisory Skills; open-stable, equicentral and track livery knowledge, some experience in breaking and handling stallions/youngsters.

Non-Equine Skills Interior Architecture&Design, Computer Skills, Carpentry, Health&Nutrition, Retail – please enquire

Strengths and Weaknesses
What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Working together as a team, making positive progress and having an active, healthy lifestyle.

Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always learning; amongst other things about efficient and sustainable equine- and land management, bio-mechanics and nutrition.  I have knowledge of plants, herbal medicine and foraging, and am continueing to expand my knowledge of these things.

Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

That depends on what they’re looking for – I believe there is a perfect fit for everybody.
I know I’m very empathic and good with putting myself in someone else’s shoes, so would be interested to be involved in the training and fittening of horses. I’m very conscientious, have experience in living and working independently and can organize myself and others; I am a fit and decent rider with a light hand and a very responsible person with a willing and competitive attitude to learn and progress. Also, I’m flexible regarding location.

Requirements
What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

Would like to keep training my and other horses; a good working environment where I can fully apply my skills and keep learning would be great.

Do you need accommodation?

Yes, if location is further than an hour away from current home in Nottingham.

Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I’d like my boy to have the company of other horses/animals and year-round good turnout.

Do you have any ongoing commitments?

Not really; I have a partner, but we’re geographically flexible

Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No
