Experience with Horses

After working part time during my school years, I preceded to take on more responsibilities including teaching people of all ages and abilities, from tiny children petting the ponies, to advanced adults wanting to improve on their core skills, to people with a variety of disabilities. This job included, a constant communication between a large variety of nationalities, which also included answering company phone, giving out information, taking bookings, payments and from time to time, collecting guests in the company car. At the same time managing the general cleanliness of the animals including cleaning of the paddocks and living areas, feeding the horses, general maintenance and setting up of the arena and tacking up the horses ready to be used. I also organised a variety of events, in house, online, two-day Island event, children/adult parties and private photo shooting. Sometimes we would be on a rushed time sale between lessons, groups etc.

Key Skills

Working under pressure, in groups and on my own. Teaching a variety of nationalities, ages and abilities. Constant communication between customers, staff and owners. Setting up the arena for dressage, show jumping, general schooling and children games. Riding different horses, young horses through to old. Helping back and bring on young horses. Some basic clipping skills on my own horses. Managing safe paddocks and secure electric fencing.
