Experience with Horses

I am looking ideally for a equine yard based role with riding included. I have worked at various yards including livery, point to point and for a company catering for a vip client. I have a Btec level 3 extended diploma in horse management as well as a BSc honours in Equine Science. I am experienced and confident in both handling and riding a variety of horses in different disciplines; including stallions, young/green horses, point to point, hunters and liveries. I am happy to clip, trim, pull, plait, bandage and carry out basic equine first aid where required.

Key Skills

I am a hard working individual, with the ability to adapt to working alone and with others among a team. At previous jobs i have been in sole charge of caring for the horses at work, both liveries and my employees. I have also where required taken charge of a small team for short term basis. I have good time management skills and will go above and beyond in order to perform to the best of my ability. I have handled and ridden both stallions and young/green horses for my previous employees confidently. I am happy to exercise horses in all disciplines including lunging, hacking, schooling and jumping. As well as caring for horses i have also looked after kids and dogs at previous employments. I’ve held a full driving license for 4 years and have driven a 3.5t horsebox for work purposes.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I am a hard working individual with a passion for horses having studied them throughout my college and university. I enjoy the dedication that is required when working with horses and strive to care for any horse i look after as though my own. I go above and beyond at work in order to perform to the best of my abilities and am extremely willing to work extra hours/days where required. I can work alone in within a team, with previous jobs i have been in sole charge, work among a team and taken charge of a small team for a short term basis. I always want to be given the opportunity to learn new skills and ways of doing things within the equine industry, as well as improving skills that i have already required from previous work and experience. I would like to be given the opportunity to improve my plaiting, clipping, trimming skills as at previous jobs these weren’t necessarily a priority. I would like to be considered for any roles that potential employers think i could be suitable for as i believe i am dedicated and passionate about any role i am in. i am hard working but equally can have fun and be involved in a team.

Requirements

From my next job i would like to be given more opportunities to be in charge of a small team when required. I would also like to be able to potentially compete and/or groom at competitions. Any roles that would require being involved with the therapy and rehabilitation of horses would be a huge interest of mine as this was one of the main subjects i enjoyed at university. Due to living away from home i do require accommodation, however i am happy for this to be on or offsite from work as i hold a full driving license. At the moment i am working full time so am required to give 4 weeks notice, but any roles and jobs that are offered to me i would be willing to start as soon as possible. As of yet i have no future holidays booked.
