Dear future employer,

I am an enthusiastic individual who thrives from setting and achieving personal targets; enabling a platform for advantageous self-evaluation and improvement. A fast-paced environment which allocates for a diverse approach, attitude and ability is a domain which I distinctively favour. Personally, an engaging environment is one which incorporates a wide variety of tasks and therefore requires not only my competent skills base but sets out to exercise those which I am progressively developing. The opportunity to progress is a personal requirement in both my personal and professional capacities. Consequently, a position which will only trial my occurring strengths of self-discipline and ambition shall not fulfil my aspirations. I strive for an opportunity which will exploit setbacks and on route complications as a way of developing my current weaknesses.

I believe that the role of Groom/ Rider is one which I will not only thrive in but shall excel. Currently providing as a Project Coordinator at Stepney Bank Stables, I have experienced first-hand the mechanics which are required in order to achieve and maintain a proactive work force which deliver eminent results. My diverse position has provided me with a vast range of experience which exceeds the managerial and Coordinating side of business. The entwinement of youth work, Instructing, and project delivery has ensured a consistent involvement with each of my projects to date.  My ability to create and establish strong connections and working relationships with additional out-reach programmes and organisations has enabled me to plan, create and deliver substantial youth programmes during my time at Stepney Bank Stables. My attainment on ‘core skills’ training courses has enabled me to construct engaging youth programmes which are coherent of the Stepney Seven key Life Skills. Ensuring the young people document their self-evaluation throughout the programmes allows for the collection of data. This collection of data allows me to analyse areas of strengths and weaknesses within the young people and enables me to tailor future programmes and activities; ensuring that maximum support in the key areas of education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities are met.

With over 20 years of experience in equine care and management, I believe I am an ideal candidate for this position. My free time consists of retraining and schooling horses; ranging from a 12hh pony to a 18.2hh hunt horse. I have successfully rescued and retrained my ex racehorse in dressage and is my pride and joy to date. Out with my personal life, I have experience in a number of professional equine related roles. My time spent with Swordale Knockandhu enabled me to gain experience in handling young stock, manage breeding plans, assist with the breaking and schooling of horses for move sets/ rehoming while managing general yard duties. My position as yard manager at Stream Valley provided me with the opportunity to develop my own ethos for running an efficient and functioning yard. Ensuring all livery needs were met while abiding by yard policies and procedures provided a safe and happy yard for both equines and clients. My most recent position at Stepney bank stables has utilised all of my personal and professional strengths; both inside and out of the equine related field. Building solid rapports with all of my clients has enabled me to deliver lessons to a standard which has exceeded their initial expectations of their own abilities. I have taught clients of all ages and abilities in group, private and semi-private settings.

As a ‘horsey mum’ myself, I have nearly 9 years of experience of ensuring my child develops as an equine enthusiast to the best of her ability. I see it fundamental that my daughter develops her care and riding skills in a safe and fun way to ensure she maintains her enthusiasm and skill for yard duties as well as riding. Moreover, as an overall animal lover, I have experience in looking after a vast range of animals such as rabbits, Guinea pigs, hamsters, chickens, sheep, cats and even a pig! Growing up as the daughter of a Canine behaviourist, breeder and show handler, I have unlimited experience in handling dogs of all sizes (from Great Danes to Minatare Yorkshire terriers) with various behavioural issues.

In addition to my recent experience, I have been involved in a number of professional roles out with the equine field which have contributed to a wealthy bank of skills and attributes; all of which I will employ throughout my role as Groom/Rider. My previous teaching of English and senior caring roles provided a bulk of my transferable skills. Organising and planning engaging lesson plans (which would always ensure maximum learning potential for each and every student) practiced my approach to ensuring continuous improvement of both myself and my students. Furthermore, my ability to build strong rapports with my team of Care Assistants, our service users and their families allowed for a happy and engaged workforce. Providing my team with the correct tools, support and structure ensured that each team member would excel within their personal and professional fields.  Additionally, teaching English has also challenged and developed my communication and interpersonal skills: both orally and written. Engaging with a student who does not speak the same language requires a great deal of problem solving and setbacks. Consequently, I have used a diverse approach to overcoming barriers such as language and communication in order to ensure my lessons always reached their highest potential. Analysing student progression was always my top priority. Identifying any barriers which the student was facing within their education was essential in order for me to adapt my teaching style and ensure the students always reached their full potential.
