Experience with Horses

While working at Laris Farm Equestrian I would care for 21 horses 6 days a week. Caring for the horses meant I would; feed, water, groom, muck out stables and tack them up ready to be ridden by clients. I also knew very basic veterinary care, for instance when grooming I would examine the horse for any injuries and report to my manager. If the injury was minor like a small cut I would take care of this myself and clean the wound and bandage if necessary. I would also report back to my manager if the horse acted abnormally as this could potentially be an internal problem.

The riding school gave me my first experience with customer service. I would book the clients in for their lessons and deal with cancellations. I was also responsible for making sure the rider was safely mounted onto their horse and then check they were comfortable.

I would often work lates which meant I would be responsible for locking up the yard and taking the money out of the till and placing in a safe.
