Experience with Horses
Apprentice Groom (through Haddon Training) at well established riding school, went on to work as a groom and instructor at the same riding school after completing my apprenticeship. I have also worked for a family run showjumping yard as a home groom, handling competition horses, young horses and foals. I have owned my own horse for a little over a year as well.
Key Skills
I work well in a team as well as working solo, I am confident in performing all daily yard duties including muck out to a high standard. In previous roles I have exercised young horses, competition horses and coached beginner riders in their first lessons. I love riding different horses and gaining experience with each ride.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• I most enjoy working with challenging horses, attending shows as a groom, improving my riding and working as a team.
• I would like to improve my ridden flatwork and turning out (clipping, plaiting)
• I am a loyal and dedicated employee, I have a proven work ethic and I am always willing to learn new skills. I take every task given to me and apply all my knowledge and confidence to complete each task.
Requirements
• In my next job, I am looking for a role in which I can progress in all aspects of working with horses. I am a firm believer than you can always improve. I have not settled on a discipline for my own horse yet, ideally I would like to go into eventing as I love the variety and challenges that come with the discipline.
