A rare opportunity is now available to join a historic estate team with an established, but growing Livery business and an exclusive Riding Club. This privately owned Surrey Livery yard near Guildford is looking for a hands-on, experienced Livery Yard Manager who is also able to Instruct/Coach. With its mix of competition horses and happy hackers, the yard offers 7-day full livery or grass livery services.
This is a beautiful environment to work and ride in. A 1000 acre private farm on historic parkland that shares its facilities with several rural businesses including:
- A garden centre
- A rural education centre
- A rare breeds centre
You will need to be an experienced Manager or currently in a Head Groom position and used to managing other team members. You will need to be professional, organised, personable, and will be commercial whilst placing animal welfare at the heart of your role. In addition to being very accomplished at all things “stable management.”
Able to do all usual horse/yard duties to a high standard including decent turnout skills: clipping, plaiting etc you will also have good levels of interpersonal & communication skills which need to be well-honed to be able to deal with team/liveries/estate staff/owners etc. You will also be a highly organised self-starter who pays great attention to the presentation of a yard and invested in growing the business as further investment in the equine facilities is made.
Your coaching duties would include teaching stable management, dressage or jumping or all three. A competition background would be useful and there may be opportunities to compete with clients’ horses.
You will likely hold a teaching or coaching qualification and will be interested in leading Riding Club development over the coming year.
Ideal qualifications are:
- Equine Care Level 4, Stage 4 (SM) or /BHSII/BHSI Instructor (+SM)
- Coaching background or equivalent experience.
On-site facilities include: outdoor surfaced 40 x20 and 40 x 60 arenas or grass arenas, (surfaced arena is floodlit)/ancient private rides & miles of private tracks, paths & ways across grassland & meadows through stunning private parkland/ cross country schooling fences/ Working Hunter Course/Show Jumping Course
