Groom/exercise rider

Experience with Horses I have been working as a groom since I was 13 working for dressage and event riders. I have a level 3 diploma in equine management with the equivalent to a level 2 bhs teach, care, lunge and ride qualification. I am currently finishing my final year studying equine sports science at the NTU. I have backed youngsters, and retrained ex racehorses straight from the track. Hunted for several years on schoolmasters and young horses. I have extensive experience in competition prep, studding, clipping, plaiting (this was an exam on my level 3 course). I am currently riding a 3* ex event horse which I hope to compete but due to lack of transport this is an issue for me. Key Skills I am extremely competent at handling young horses and high level sport horses. This is something I’ve become extremely accustomed to. Due to my extensive education my organisation and time management skills are excellent and I pride myself in setting high standards. On my current yard I have taken charge of apprentices and showing them the equine industry. My ability to ride is creditable. I have competed on the university’s competitive team for the past 2 years, being team captain for the second year. I particularly enjoy riding young horses and the school masters, which is something I would very much like to continue. I can confidently manage and handle a yard independently of with other members of staff, and throughly enjoy working closely and bonding with colleagues and employers. Strengths and Weaknesses i enjoy being outside 100% and keeping myself busy. The horses routine and riders is essential and I always aim to keep everything stress free. I can muck out and turn out to a high standard and extremely relatable when I’m most needed. id consider myself as a sociable confident person and making memories and connections with people is just as important to me as working with horses and animals. Riding my own horse and riding other peoples is something I am passionate about. I always want people to gain the most out of their horse and I consider it a honor when people allow my input and help. I would like to be more involved in the competition environment as this is something that has always been slow for me. Having a bad run of horses myself hasn’t allowed me to compete for the last year, and management an event riders yard has meant I have always prepped the horses but not been able to attend events due to managing the yard. • Why should employers consider you above any other job seekers? I should be consider over other jobs seekers as I am young and hungry to get stuck in within the equine industry. Finishing my degree I want to explore and venture out to other yards, and make new connections. I’m open honest, and extremely experienced for my age and I reckon I would
