Experience with Horses
I have a lot of experience with working with horses, I have been riding for around eight years now. In this time I have developed a good knowledge of equine care (as I was part of the national pony club), and the different needs of a variety of different horses and ponies. I have also become very good at doing jumping (up to 85cm); alongside developing my dressage skills further, and I can go out hacking, stirrup-less riding, flatwork, etc. I also did two work experience weeks, at two different stables. Where I mucked out, helped with a poultice, rode certain horses, did feed and hay daily in the evening and mornings, tacked up horses for lessons, etc. I also was in charge of medication of certain horses, I cleaned, groomed, and picked out their feet. Ideally I am looking for an equine based apprenticeship, ideally as a groom but I wouldn’t mind any other options. As long as they are within range, and easy to get too.
Key Skills
I am adaptable to do any work. I’m very punctual and good at following a set routine. I’m good at getting things done when they need to be, I am also very good under pressure. I can adapt to situations, and I am aware of the consideration and the care needed to look after horses and their needs.
