  • Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I’ve grew up around horses, they’ve always been apart of me it’s something I’ve always love doing and being apart of learning new things as I grew older, team building as-well as no two days are the same and I know how hard it can be but at the end of the day it’s so rewarding to be apart of something that makes you the happiest.
I’ve been on a yard since I was 6 years old ridding and handling came naturally to me, I’ve been on all sorts of horses and have experienced everything from the best of times to the worst of times. I’ve had my own horse in the past when I was younger aged 14 with that came a lot of responsibility of-course which was a very good stepping stone for me to understand a routine and to always make sure things are done safely as well putting the best care into it, at 16 I left high school on the Isle of Wight to go and study at Merrist Wood college for the duration of 3 years where I learnt even more, in depth and experience I have done the behavioural side, management and care, coaching, preparation and presentation, grooming, health care/checks, riding, lunging, long reining, Tack preparation the whole works

I then left college, came back to the island I was lucky enough to be given my own livery for full livery/assisted livery this is where I revamped a whole yard 3 acres worth which was in no mind easy, but I got on with it and ended having alot of interest but as the island is so small no one was willing for the full livery, although I did have two horses in which were assisted livery that went on for around over a month then had to be given up due to a domestic dispute.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I work well in a team ofcourse but I don’t mind being left to my own resources and just getting on with a job, I’m good a clipping, I’m extremely good at plaiting! That is one of my main advantages as well as handing I have been around enough horses and people that have shown me to me to keep this calm manner in any situation. Im good at mucking out and keeping to feed charts I can help with nutrition side of things, I’m very switched on when it comes to horses, groundwork’s / maintenance I’ve done a lot in aswell I’ve put posts up, I’ve done some fencing and even logging, driven tractors etc. I can handle any temperature and age of horse in confidence

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

The feeling of achievement as well as development whether that’s riding, maintaining the yard, helping others around you, when you given your most into the animals and yes days are long and hard but we all do it because we have the passion and connection to just make a difference, do something that gives you pride and it shows.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Getting back into riding consistently, as I have not had the chance to ride often. And to refresh what I know best to then progress further

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m honest and someone you can turn to, trustworthy and reliable,I’m hardworking and I’m willing, willing to put myself forward, into positions maybe not all are comfortable in, willing to learn more and to do a great job. Willing to relocate aswell.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to achieve more qualifications working up to collect these whether that’s bhs stages/ general experience, I would ideally like to position myself in a good role surrounded by supporting and lovely people, as well as earning myself a good reputation, pay and to work hard.

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes absolutely I am not too worried about what it is also as it’s up to health n safety standard and isn’t going to cause myself problems.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No animals

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
