Experience with Horses
Started my groom career as a volunteer in a therapy stable (for more than a year) and then worked in the same stable full time with 16 horses. Performed basic stable management.
Moved on to work in a Polo stable with privately owned horses and made responsible mainly for 6 horses, assisting in a yard of 30 horses. Mainly performed grooming, tacking up and ponying horses to and from yard and polo field.
I was given horses prone to skin issues as I could be trusted to keep them healthy and neat; an owner/polo player asked for me to specifically take care of his 2 horses.

Key Skills
- Working independently or in a team, have worked alongside other grooms, former jockeys, volunteers, horse owners, and polo professionals.
- Organised and diligent
Strengths and Weaknesses
- What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Taking care of their basic needs, ensuring they feel as good as possible wherever and whenever. The physical environment of a stable/manger and outdoor environment. - Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Improve my grooming of horses and understanding of their behaviour. Improve my knowledge of horse medical care. And all my other skills, especially with handling ‘difficult’ horses e.g. those that do not like to be groomed, or are difficult to lead, which I believe just need different and consistent training.
- Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am diligent, organised, and determined.
Started working with horses as a volunteer, couple of years after university and decided to take it as a full-time job.
To learn more, I moved to a local polo stable (not many other kinds of stables in my home country). I have always wished to live and work overseas.
Now all I want to do is to take care of almost every aspect of horses from mucking out to any special medical attention they might require.
Requirements
- What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
To provide as good care to horses as possible, and possibly better turnout.
To be a better and more well-rounded groom, with more skills.
Clipping, rugging.
Lunging and work-riding experience.
Loading horses in trailer.
Possibly handling young horses and work in rescuing horses.
- Do you need accommodation?
Would be good to have.
- Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No
- Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No
- Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
