Experience with Horses

I have over 10 years of experience working with horses, primarily through caring for my family’s beloved horses at our yard and stables. My responsibilities have included grooming, feeding, riding, mucking out, and cleaning. Growing up, I have always been surrounded by horses and animals, which has fuelled my lifelong passion and love for them. This extensive hands-on experience has provided me with a deep understanding of horse care and stable management, and has honed my skills in various aspects of equine care.

I excel in several areas related to horse care:

• Working Alone and with Others: I am comfortable and efficient working independently, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard. I also work well within a team, communicating effectively to ensure the wellbeing of the horses and smooth operation of the yard.
• Grooming: I have significant experience in grooming horses to a high standard, including plaiting for shows.
• Handling and Riding: I am skilled in handling and riding young horses, ensuring they are well-trained and well-mannered. I am also experienced in handling stallions safely and confidently.
• Non-Equine Skills: I bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a reliable work ethic to any task I undertake. Additionally, my background has equipped me with the ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks to ensure the smooth running of the stables.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I most enjoy the bond and mutual trust that develops between a horse and its caretaker. There is a unique satisfaction in seeing a horse thrive under my care, knowing that my efforts contribute to its wellbeing and performance. I love working with horses because of the natural bond I have with them, and my passion for these magnificent animals has been with me since I was born.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always looking to enhance my knowledge and skills in advanced equine care and training techniques. I am particularly interested in gaining more experience in specialised areas such as equine nutrition and rehabilitation. Additionally, I want to improve my riding skills to better train and handle a variety of horses.
