Experience with Horses
Over the years I’ve worked on a variety of yards from livery yards to riding school private yards and in recent years competition yards looking after show jumping horses, I’ve also had my own horses for 25 years, I’ve enjoyed all aspects of this from mucking out turning horses out in paddocks, bringing in grooming poo picking etc, to travelling to shows both here and abroad clipping plaiting hand walking lunging turning horses out to a high standard tack cleaning and just generally looking after them.
I feel I work well both on my own and in a team I never expect anyone to do anything that I wouldn’t do myself, I’m use to handling a variety of horses including youngsters and stallions, I enjoy the horses being turned out to the best of my ability.
Strengths and weaknesses ?
My biggest strength is that I thrive off a routine, I’m no good when things change constantly I like to have a routine and stick to it. Get to know the horses individually.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve? I feel I’m constantly improving the ways I carry out jobs the longer you stay in a job and get to know the likes and dislikes of the yard owner/ manager.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I believe I’m hard working honest and reliable and I’ve been around horses many years although I’m always open to change and adapting to new styles of carrying out jobs etc. I’ve also owned my own horses for 25 plus years so understand the wants and demands of looking after other peoples horses properly.
