Experience with Horses
I learnt to ride through my local riding school from the age of around 9/10 years of age. I leant the basics of mucking out, grooming, tacking up. I did one weeks work experience at the riding school where I led some lead rain classes for younger children, turned the horses out into the field And general yard duties. Another work experience position I held was with the mounted police branch headquarters at Hutton. Again, this was carrying out similar duties as the riding school placement.
I haven’t rode in a number of years so would prefer to take a non riding position. However, open to take an opportunity where riding maybe be option if it gives me the chance to get back in the saddle and brush up my riding skills.
Key Skills
Although my currently equine experience stands at a minimum. I have learnt many skills through other jobs that I feel I can use to adapt within the equine industry .
I can sufficiently work alone or as part of a team when required. I have experience liaising with external resources such as companies that provide stock & resources. I am first aid trained including BSL, CPR & use of a defib. Multiple customer communication including emails, over the phone & face to face. Supervisor and basic managerial experience of a small team.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• I love horses, from their smell to their each individual personality and temperament. I am at my calmest and happiest surrounded by dogs and horses.
• I’d like to gain knowledge where possible on the rehabilitation process of horses comin back from injury as well as the race industry
• I can easily adapt to new surroundings and have the drive and willingness to learn new things. I like the succeed and always looking to better my skills and knowledge
