Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

During my time working at the riding school yard, I gained extensive experience caring as part of a team for around 50 horses. My daily tasks included mucking out stables, ensuring they were clean and comfortable for the horses. I also managed feeding, carefully preparing and distributing feed to meet each horses’s dietry needs. Turning out was another key responsibilty, where I would safely lead the horses to and from the fields, ensuring they had time to graze and exercise.

Key Skills

  1. Foaling expertise: Skilled in monitoring and assisting with foaling, ensuring the safety and well-being of both the mare and foal during the birthing process.
  2. Stallion Handling: Experienced in handling stallions, maintaining control and safety while managing their unique temperament and behaviour.
  3. Young Stock Handling: Proficient in working with young horses, including weanlings and yearlings, fostering their development and training in a calm and effective manner.
  4. Physical Fitness: Strong physical stamina and endurance, essential for performing demanding tasks like lifting, mucking out and handling horses.
