Experience with Horses
I’ve been riding for 15 years, and have competed in multiple disciplines such as:
– Show jumping (90cm graded, 1m at home)
– Western mounted games (Up to level 3)
– Dressage (Prelim)
– Equitation (Up to 60cm)
– Stadium Eventing (Up to 65cm)
– Prix Caprilli (Introductory level)
I’ve worked most of my life with schooling Off Track Thoroughbreds, either to compete with or to sell on, as well as schooling and doing work riding with different horses such as Endurance Arabians, Warmbloods, and riding school ponies.
I worked at a stable yard for a few months as an administrative position, as well as a work riding position, where I had to handle tasks such as monthly invoices, work riding, basic wound care, lesson confirmations, planning and hosting of events and shows, advertising, bills and salaries, etc.
Key Skills
I’ve worked a lot with young horses and are quite experienced with them. I also have worked with computers a lot and studied Computer Science until changing career paths. I can work alone or in a team, and I’m quite adaptable.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Horses have always been a safe place for me, I’ve been around them my whole life and love how gentle they are. My favorite thing about being around horses is how calming it is.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I think anyone can always improve, and I’d love to learn as much as I can and build up experience. I think the biggest thing I would like to improve is my knowledge on how best to keep horses happy and make them feel as secure and relaxed as possible.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m a hard worker that’s always willing to help and learn where I can. I’m very adaptable and can work in most circumstances with little trouble. I work well under pressure and always make sure things get done.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’d like to gain experience and further my knowledge of horses, competing, caring for them and horse riding as a sport.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
