Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding since the age of 9, and now at 18 I am keen to make horses my life. I worked at my local riding school for a year, teaching group and private lessons, running the barn, and doing admin work as well. I learned so much from this and I am a great team worker because of it.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am excellent at working with others, the “helpers” at my job were all around 12-14 who were volunteering to tack up and help get all the daily tasks done. I work well with children, but equally when given a task can just put my head down and get on with it.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love that there is always something new to learn. Asking questions and finding out the ways different people do different things is so interesting, and I always want new knowledge.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I don’t know a lot about competing, preparing horses for shows, or how a typical show day would run. I am not interested in competing myself but would love to groom for someone.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am dedicated, healthy, and a happy person to be around.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
My next job should have someone willing to share knowledge and experience with me, and help me gain a deeper understanding of working with horses.
• Do you need accommodation?
Would be preferable.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
no
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
no
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
no
