Experience with Horses
I have been riding for about 10+ years. I wad lucky enough to have a family friend with a yard who was kind enough to mentor me. I never had the money for push button ponies, so we worked together to bring on any horse I had. Being on this yard taught me the world. From breaking youngsters to pony racing a new forest, this unconventional way of learning means that not much phases me anymore and I know how to work this a variety of horses from breed to mind.
Key Skills
I am able to work alone or in company. Happy to ride young or green horses and do not shy from a challenge. I have virtually all of the practical skills needed to be on a fully functioning yard whilst being an asset to those around me. I have worked in a variety of different fields which have made me a very well rounded individual with excellent critical thinking skills.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
There’s nothing I don’t enjoy about working with horses! The good far outweighs the bad. If I had to choose one thing it would be connected with the horses I’m working with. I love how nuanced they all are. (I’m also a slight adrenaline junkie which I think can help in this line of work)
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Yes of course! I haven’t had my own for a few years now so I haven’t been fully immersed in the world of horses since I was a little younger. Although I think I’ll always find things I need to work on of course.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Because of my love for this industry. I like to work with the people around me rather than against. I am amazingly hard working and have never had anything handed to me on a plate, nor will I ever expect too. I am completely reliable and trustworthy. Also, I am open minded and always open to learning new things and like to think I am extremely receptive.
