Experience with Horses
I have worked with horses for approximately 8 years, ranging from riding school to sales and show-jumping yards. I have produced my own pony from scratch and also a friends mare from the field to competing eventing, qualifying for nationals at our first ODE. I have handled and ridden a range of horses ranging from the riding school ponies, which I schooled frequently, to warmbloods and thoroughbreds. I can clip and trim, lunge and long rein and also do a range of ridden work with horses. I have helped to make yards run efficiently with my quick thinking and good communication skills. I can prepare and tack up horses for riders. I muck out to a high standard and make sure the horses come first always.
Key Skills
I can clip and turn out for shows. I am confident handling and riding a range of horses. I have social and communication skills as used to have to frequently interact with customers at the riding school. I can work confidently both on my own or in a team. I can drive a small tractor, AVANT and quad bike. I have had experience working with children around horses as me and the adult staff looked after approximately 30 children and 10 ponies on the pony days that were held at the riding school. I have a high attention to detail and am proficient in the day to day care of the horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I find the ridden side very rewarding as I love to improve my riding and learn something new. I enjoy watching younger horses learning and figuring out the ridden aspect of things. I also enjoy getting to know each horse in the day to day care and finding out what they do and don’t like and getting to know their individual personality! I also enjoy getting to know the team and everyone in the horse world and learning about their experiences.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My plaiting and bandaging skills. I practice but haven’t quite got the knack of it yet!
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a hard working and dedicated worker. The horses are always my number one priority, consistently making sure everything is done for them at a high standard. I’m quick thinking and can communicate with a team or be left on my own and am confident doing it all myself. I am bubbly and friendly and will get on easily with members of the team. I love to learn and broaden my knowledge and am a quick learner.

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No special requirements but I would like my horse to come with me if possible.
