Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have spend most of my life around horses as I grew up in the rural South of Spain. I spent many years riding and working during the holidays and weekends on freeholdings and yards. I’m a confident rider and fairly proficient in most of the basic jobs needed on a yard but have been out of the loop in the last few years due to moving to the UK.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy the unpredictability of working with animals, especially horses. It makes for very rewarding and ever-changing work. Like a lot of people I struggle to properly explain the attraction to horses, all I know is that it’s been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d like to gain some more experience in different environments and polish my skills to suit professional yards or the competition world.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I’m flexible with no prior engagements or responsibilities, which means I’m able to move wherever, whenever with a month’s notice. I’m also quite an adaptable person and have no trouble adjusting to new environments, cultures and places. This makes me quite practical and independent.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’d like to get the chance to be part of a team of likeminded people, learn new skills and get back into the equine world and be a part of it yet again.
• Do you need accommodation?
Ideally, yes.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I’m employed and am living in a houseshare in Bristol, I will need some time to give notice and move if need be. Probably a month.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
