Experience with Horses
I am a 21 year old event rider, based in Gloucestershire. I have had horses since I was born, I have competed in showing, showjumping, eventing, and dressage. I have ridden a variety of horses over the years, from young inexperienced, to retraining my own ex-polo horse to event. I have ridden a wide variety of horses including, competition, hunt, polo, racing, mounted games, showing, dressage, and your general everyday leisure horses. I am a very confident and quiet rider, happy to ride through quirks or problems. I have competed up to 100 eventing, novice dressage, and 105cm showjumping, I have trained round novice fences. I would love to progress this further however my horse does not permit! I have done work experience on a 5* event yard which I loved. Since then I have worked on a rehabilitation/livery yard, hunt/event yard, and point to point.
Key Skills
I am a very good team-player, I currently work in hospitality so have very good communication and people skills. I am confident but have the ability to listen and learn. I have a strong work ethic and desire to reach the top level. I am happy working on my own or with others. I can clip, plait, handle any kind of horse.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I most enjoy the empathy horses have towards humans, I love being able to work alongside such powerful yet kind horses. I love being outside and being around animals. I have so much love for the sport, and the behind the scenes spectators don’t see.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
The public view on horse riding, the dangers of the sport but the safety measures that are put in place to reduce risk.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I think my work ethic and skill I have developed through university, I have had industry experience which has set me up ready for my future in the sport.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
skill both on or off the horse, I would love to improve my riding but also learn how to make it to the top. I would also like the opportunity to continue competing my own horse.
