Experience with Horses
I have ridden all my life and spent the past 5 seasons working for an MFH on a hunting and dealing yard, regularly hunting and riding new, strong, and fit horses. I am looking to broaden my horizons whilst following my passion for horses and experience some time hunting with a new pack for the next season. I would be looking to continue working as a hunt groom, but gain a new experience.
Key Skills
I have excellent time keeping skills, along with resilience to continue working in weather, when ill, or injured. I have high standards of turnout, including but not limited to, plaiting, clipping, bathing, and mane pulling and am very comfortable working in a team, along with being very used to having sole charge of a yard of 11 horses who are all fit and in work during the season. I am used to riding new horses when they have come in for sale, along with second horses and masters horses in the field, and riding and leading when exercising. I have a full UK driving licence and I have regularly towed a horse box behind a car.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
It is hugely rewarding to se a horse you have looked after go on to good things, along with enjoying riding them myself.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Flatwork, we don’t spend much time in the school with the hunting horses here
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have always had to work very hard to gain riding experience as I’ve not come from a horsey family so I am used to putting the work in. I have worked with hunting horses for 5 years, I love it as much as I do today as I did on day 1.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to gain experience working in a different part of the country, along with experiencing hunting with a different pack and learning new skills.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes, for myself and my partner
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have an extremely well-behaved cocker spaniel
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I currently manage a pub, which is something I would need to continue for the summer
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No.
