Experience with Horses
I have ridden from a very young age, and focussed mainly on showjumping as a teenager until I began working as a groom and rider at a racing yard when I was 16. Since then I have worked in a range of industries, most recently in Australia working at the biggest flat racing yard in New South Wales. Since returning from travelling, I would like to get back into the showjumping industry and continue to expand my knowledge and experience. I have handled and ridden a wide range of horses, from youngstock to fit competition horses, along with performing all general yard duties to a high standard. I have also travelled to many large national shows and have a high standard of turnout, although I would love to continue to improve my clipping and plaiting skills.
Key Skills
– General yard duties with excellent attention to detail
– Clipping, plaiting bandaging
– Lunging/longreining
– Schooling
– Ability to drive 3.5t horsebox
– Ability to travel to shows including packing lorry, loading etc
– High standard of turnout
– Experience with colts and fillies
– Experience with fit competition horses
– Good general knowledge of horse welfare and signs of ill health
Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am highly reliable and passionate about my work. I do not take shortcuts to get things done quicker if it compromises the quality of my work. I am also highly flexible and will always try to make time for overtime where possible. I absolutely love the showjumping industry and am so excited to get involved with a professional yard who can expand my knowledge even further.
