Experience with Horses
I have just over 5 years experience. I am a student studying Equine Business Management for the past 2 years. I worked las summer at a riding school taking hacks out from 9 to 6 in Richmond Park London, before that I working at a Riding School and Livery yard for just under 2 years and I have been farm help for 8 months at a former eventers yard/farm.
Key Skills
I work well in teams and am able to take sole charge as well as listen to instruction. I ride to a BHS stage 2, although I do not have BHS Stages, but I am working towards my HND in UNI which is equivalent. Mucking out a variety of stables and beds at industry standard. Good with children and I have experience and enjoy teaching beginner lessons. Proficient at Lunging, tacking up, feeds and general yard responsibilities and duties. I have some experience clipping and working with young horses this however will need more training.
Non-equine skills
I am tidy and organised, I am good with children and enjoy working with them, I am a hard worker, driven and practical, I can listen to instruction and take responsibility.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy and the practical work. I love building a bond with horses and the satisfaction they give. I also enjoy the thrill of riding and find it enjoyable.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my riding ability, further my knowledge and hone my teaching and riding skills.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am extremely hard working and I have a good work ethic. I learn quickly and well and whilst I may have arias that I could need training in, I want to learn and so I am easy to train and mentor. I am responsible, honest and level headed, and work to build good relationships, but I also have a good sense of humor and I am laid back and do not get stressy.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to improve my riding skills. I am however open to gaining any form of new skill by working for any sectors withing the industry such as stud work, carriage driving, competition groom ect.
