Equine Groom – Aike Grange Stud – 2024 – present 

• Provide hay and fresh water to equine
• Turning out and bringing in of horses
• Mucking out to a high standard
• Complying with yard regime to facilitate for horses’ needs

Equine Groom – GRD GRAY 2018 – 2023

• Facilitating care to equine on a daily basis, providing fresh hay and water, and mucking out to a high standard
• Maintaining cleanliness of equine yard
• Assisting the farrier and vet
• Ensured stock of feed, hay and straw regularly
• Informed any changes to line manager regarding stock or equine welfare
• Carried out duties in line with Health and Safety Standards when dealing with high-risk equine
• Working with equine of different breeds
• Working with geldings, stallions, colts, fillies, broodmares and foals (from birth) 

Equine Groom South Pasture Stables – 2016 – 2018

• Facilitated care to both livery and school ponies
• Bringing in school ponies before lessons and turning out and the end of working day
• Riding school ponies
• Tacking up school ponies for lessons
• Supervising ‘under 16’s’ yard helpers
• Booking riding lessons over phone and in-person for customers

 

 

Key Skills

Over the years of working as a yard groom for several yards, I am confident in my abilities to work alone on a yard, handling stallions and yearlings where required, mucking out to a high standard and providing basic equine care on a daily basis. I am confident with providing medication to horses, and identifying concerns with a horses’ wellbeing e.g. signs of lameness, colic, choke, laminitis.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy the hard work involved on a day- to -day basis , as well as constantly expanding my knowledge on horses in different areas and disciplines.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve on my abilities in show preparation; clipping, bathing, grooming, tacking up.

I believe I can bring my experience from previous positions as a groom, and show a genuine interest in the job and progressing in my role.
