Experience with Horses
I have been around horses all my life and currently own my own horse. Through personal ownership and working at stables in exchange for riding, I have developed strong practical skills in horse care, daily yard duties, and riding. I rode competitively for my university in their first team competing in dressage and showjumping, and was also the vice captain of the equestrian society.
I have also worked as an equine retail assistant, where I gained a strong knowledge of equestrian products and feed and nutrition through giving customers advice.
Additionally, I have experience teaching two young girls how to ride, helping to build their confidence and basic skills, and I always enjoy assisting others around horses. My hands on experience has made me confident, patient, and reliable when handling a variety of horses.
I have also pet sat for many people in my life, including dogs and horses, which I’ve always enjoyed. I am fully enhanced DBS checked too.
Key Skills
- Confident in handling, grooming, and basic exercising of horses
- Daily care including mucking out, feeding, and general stable management
- Basic teaching skills, having helped young riders start their journey
- Working well both independently and as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of equestrian products, feed and tack from retail experience
- Calm, patient, and safety-conscious approach to horses and people
Strengths and Weaknesses
What I enjoy most:
I love forming bonds with horses and seeing them develop and improve. I also really enjoy helping others, whether that’s on the yard or with their riding. Furthermore, horses are my life and any time spent around them is the most enjoyed.
What I’d like to improve:
I would like to expand my experience with different types of horses and possibly work towards formal qualifications like BHS stages in the future.
Why employers should consider me:
I bring lifelong experience with horses, a strong work ethic, and a positive, can-do attitude. I am passionate, hands-on, and always willing to learn and help wherever needed.
Requirements
What I’d like to do or gain:
I am looking for a role where I can continue working hands-on with horses, develop my skills further, and gain more structured yard experience and a job that I can enjoy and horses I can treat as I would my own.
Accommodation:
Accommodation is not essential for Essex based roles.
