Experience with Horses

I have owned horses and ponies all my life. I have competed in showing, showjumping and dressage. I have also bread my own horse and am looking forward to educating her and seeing her grown as a horse. My experience in working within the equine industry has been fantastic so far and i have enjoyed every part of it and have learnt so much. For the last 4 years i have worked at Ivy Lodge Farm for Jason Maguire rehabbing racehorses. This included putting horses on the aqua treadmill and in the equine spa, depending what injury they had, so i am very use to fit and young horses. Before this  i worked as a polo groom and at an international dressage yard which although very different i enjoyed both! I am able to turn horses out to a high standard, Plait, lunge, flatwork horses confidently, pull manes and long reign. I’m capable of bandaging, whether that’s exercise bandages or bandages for injury purposes.

Key Skills

I’m happy to work in a team but equally as happy to work alone, i have worked in both a very busy professional yard and a family run very quiet yard. My equine skills would include, high care and management of horses and ponies, plaiting, mane pulling, turning horses out for shows, flatwork, competent handling young horses to fit competition horses. My non equine related skills would include; organisation, time keeping, attention to detail (especially when making horses look pretty for shows) being kind and caring and patient, which is especially needed with youngsters.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love how rewarding it is, whether it’s them winning at a show or a horse completing their first solo hack. whatever work you put into them they always give back.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would love to improve my clipping skills and also my confidence with jumping.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Above all other skills and experience i’m reliable and kind and i will always try my absolute best at any job i take on.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

in my next job i would love to build some amazing relationships with the people i work with and would also love to learn as much as i can and really expand my knowledge whether that’s in a new discipline or leaning a new way of plating.

• Do you need accommodation?

If the job is within 20 miles from my home no i will not but if its further away i would require accommodation.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I do own two very well behaved dogs and two horses.
