Experience with Horses
Working on the ground in a flat racing yard for three years, dealing with 2 year olds, colts, yearlings, horses on box rest etc. Assisting with vets and farriers, trotting horses up, accompanying horses to the sales, taking horses racing, turning out to a high standard. Able to hack horses out as have ridden previously but preferably searching for a ground based role.
Key Skills
staying calm under high pressure, confidence leading highly strung horses, attention to detail, confident working alone and as part of a team, organisation skills, happy to work under orders and complete tasks, punctuality, efficient.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Assisting with the vet to come to a solution in order to keep the horse comfortable and happy.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to continue my ground based exercise knowledge.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I try to consistently put the horses needs above mine. I am very confident leading horses on the ground after dealing with young horses and colts for many years, both in the yard and out of the yard racing.
