Experience with Horses

I have extensive experience working with Icelandic horses and a variety of other breeds gained over several years in both Iceland and England. My services cover daily horse care, grooming, groundwork, riding young and green horses, preparing horses for breeding shows, and stable management. I am confident in applying bandages and providing basic first aid, helping with foals and broodmares, and managing safe horse transport. I work well both independently and as part of a team and adapt quickly to different yard environments.

For non-equine roles, I bring strong organisational skills, reliability, and a positive attitude towards teamwork and problem-solving.

Key Skills

  • Confident rider and handler of young horses and those requiring re-education

  • Skilled in grooming, washing, and general horse care

  • Experienced in applying and managing support and exercise bandages

  • Proficient in groundwork, basic training, and behavioural improvement

  • Comfortable handling stallions, broodmares, and helping with foals

  • Strong stable management: cleaning, feeding, tack care, and yard upkeep

  • Able to work efficiently alone or collaboratively within a team

  • Good communication skills, ensuring clear updates on horse health and training progress

  • Basic knowledge of equine first aid and injury prevention

Strengths and Weaknesses

What I most enjoy about working with horses:
Building trust and understanding with horses through consistent, patient handling and training. I enjoy seeing progress in young or challenging horses and the variety each day brings.

What I’d like to improve:
Further develop my skills in advanced riding techniques and horse rehabilitation to broaden the scope of training and care I can provide.

Why employers should consider me:
I combine practical hands-on experience with a strong work ethic and adaptability. I am committed to the well-being and development of every horse I work with. My communication and teamwork skills ensure smooth, effective yard operations.
