Experience with Horses

I have over 15 years of riding experience and have worked with a wide range of horses, including Andalusian stallions, Shires, ponies, and my current loan horse, an Irish Sport Horse I’ve cared for over 4 years. I’m confident in all aspects of stable management including mucking out, grooming, feeding, administering basic medication, tacking up, lunging, and turning in and out. I regularly help on a yard with around 10 horses, where I assist others and contribute to a supportive, team-based environment. I’m also confident loading/unloading horses and working around high-turnout yards. I take pride in being proactive, calm, and reliable around horses of all temperaments.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love the daily connection and trust you build with each horse. Every horse has its own personality and challenges, and I enjoy learning how to understand and care for them as individuals. Whether it’s the quiet satisfaction of yard work or the reward of a good schooling session, I find working with horses both grounding and fulfilling. I especially enjoy being part of a team where everyone supports each other and shares the same passion for horse welfare.

 

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to continue developing my knowledge through formal qualifications like the BHS stages to strengthen my practical experience with theory and standards. I am keen to improve my confidence in more advanced schooling and groundwork, and to gain experience in a wider range of competition environments.

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to continue developing my practical skills in a supportive and professional yard, working with a variety of horses and gaining more experience in areas like competition prep, advanced riding, and groundwork. I am eager to start working toward formal qualifications, such as BHS stages, and to learn from experienced professionals. Most of all, I want to be part of a dedicated team where I can contribute, grow, and take on more responsibility over time.
