Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
100 hours+ Work experience as a groom for The Stables, Wilstead which was a requirement of my Equine Management Extended Diploma Level 3 at Moulton College (Just completed results coming out in august 2025). This included a range of duties such as; turning out horses, rugging up horses, mucking out stables, picking out feet and washing down after being in muddy fields, grooming horses, feeding horses, keeping yard and other facilities/equipment clean and tidy.
Bryerley Springs Riding School Helper (March 2023 – May 2024)
Work experience at the riding school involved catching the horses and bringing them in from the arena’s, grooming and preparing them for lessons before fitting the tack onto the horses. As a helper I sometimes assisted with the lessons, especially helping the younger riders. If I was not in an arena I was looking after the other horses on the yard and getting them ready for their lessons throughout the day. Once all the lessons where over I would take the others back to their paddocks for the night so they could recover from a long day. I worked most Saturdays from 7am to 4:30pm unpaid, I was told I was the most dependable the helper at the riding school.
During my Equine Management course at Moulton College I regularly had hands on experience with horses, through practical lessons every week and taking shifts working as a groom caring for the College horses. Practical experience included Grooming, Feeding, Mucking out, Poo-picking their fields, Feet Picking, Clipping, Rugging, Lunging and Long-reining, Riding including jumping and hacking.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc.
I am happy to work alone but am equally as happy to work as part of a team. I am very good at hands on caring for horses and i am a caring, patient and compassionate person. I am used to working with a range of horses from youngsters to heavier horses as well as more spirited horses. I am very determined and hard working as well being very conscientious. I am dependable and reliable.

I really enjoy spending time with horses even when the weather is not so great.

I would like to gain more experience in clipping and presenting horses for shows.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I have worked hard to get as much experience as I can in this field alongside a industry recognised Equine qualification. Having recently completed my course I am really excited about beginning my career full time working with horses.
