Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
- Riding youngsters/tricky horses/strong hunters/P2P – I am genuinely happy to get on anything that comes my way, and love a new challenge!
- General yard duties and horse care
- Great team player but I can also work alone
- I am very adaptable as you must be when working with horses!
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
- I love nothing more than being around horses and animals, and I am always so grateful for any opportunity I am given surrounding horses. My main passions are eventing and hunting, I evented up to 90cm and hunted with the North Cotswold Hunt, of which pony club I was also a part of.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
- I pride myself on having high turnout skills – I have not learned to clip yet
- I do not have a HGV licence as I am 20, and I have never towed a trailer. I am always willing to learn though, and otherwise have a full and clean UK driving licence. I also have my own car.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
- I am reliable, conscientious, communicative and have excellent attention to detail.
- Goes without saying, but horse welfare is always my no. 1 priority.
- I will always give everything 110% effort, and will never end the day without making sure everything has been done properly.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
- If I would be lucky enough to be given the opportunity to ride, that is always a huge bonus!
- I am looking to get into working for an equine business as a career, where I may be able to do equine journalism, marketing, PR etc. – any work based around horses is my dream!
• Do you need accommodation?
Depending on location
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I am a student at the University of Edinburgh, so I am based here from Sept-Dec, and Jan-April/May.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No
