Experience with Horses
I completed a Level 3 Extended Technical Diploma in Horse Management after leaving school. Alongside this course, I was also employed by the college on a sessional basis to cover weekends and holidays. This has developed into a sole management role of the students attending weekend yard duties and the horses on the yard.
I have been around horses all of my life and currently ride my horse at riding club level.
Key Skills
I have a high standard of work while carrying out routine tasks such as mucking out, hay nets, etc. while also having a great attention to detail and resilience when it comes to getting a task completed.
I can work alone efficiently, or I can communicate well in a team.
I especially enjoy turning out horses, including bathing, plaiting and trimming and would like to develop these skills further.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy their presence and making sure they have the best quality of life possible.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would love to expand my industry knowledge, as well as my turning out skills.
I would also like to improve my riding on the flat if opportunity arose as I am a novice rider.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I genuinely love being around horses and their welfare is my top priority.
I am a hard-worker, which is shown through the success of my work experience. They didn’t want to let me go but unfortunately they don’t have any vacancies. It is also shown through the feedback I get from my current job role.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to further my knowledge and riding (if possible).
• Do you need accommodation?
yes.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
