Experience with Horses
I have just completed a Level 3 Extended Technical Diploma in Horse Management. Alongside this course, I was also employed by the college on a sessional basis to cover weekends and holidays.
I have been around horses all of my life and currently ride my horse at riding club level.
Key Skills
I have a high standard of work while carrying out routine tasks such as mucking out, hay nets, etc. while also having a great attention to detail and resilience when it comes to getting a task completed.
I can work alone efficiently, or I can communicate well in a team.
I especially enjoy turning out horses, including bathing, plaiting and trimming and would like to develop these skills further.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy their presence and making sure they have the best quality of life possible.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would love to expand my industry knowledge, as well as my turning out skills.
I would also like to improve my riding on the flat and if the opportunity arose, would like to learn to jump as I have not yet had the opportunity to do so.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I genuinely love being around horses and their welfare is my top priority.
I am a hard-worker, which is shown through the success of my work experience. They didn’t want to let me go but unfortunately they don’t have any vacancies.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I would like to further my knowledge and riding (if possible).
I would like to gain experience so that I can work towards becoming a competition groom.
• Do you need accommodation?
yes.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a pony with EMS that I would like to bring.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
in employment until mid September.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
no.
