Experience with Horses
I have many years experience in different aspects of the industry.
After school i worked as a trainee hunt groom for three seasons this taught me skills including feeding, equine first aid, turnout, clipping, fitness routines etc.
I worked for a well known Show hunter producer which taught me valuable skills in producing young horses for the show ring, turnout to a very high standard, grooming at major county shows.
I worked for a family that participated in,Hunting, Eventing Intermediate level, Dressage Grand Prix level, they also ran a riding school and had liveries, this was a very varied job including general care, riding, grooming at events and shows , prep for hunting and assisting with the riding school, full care of the livery horses etc.
I spent 4 years working in Austria working as sole charge groom for a private yard. I had full responsibility for the day to day care of up to 9 horses. My duties included all feeding preparation, yard work, field maintenance, equine first aid, tack care, lunging, riding, i received weekly lesson’s from a bereiter of the Spanish Riding School of Vienna to bring the young horses along.
I spent 1 year in Switzerland working for a private owner of two horses, my duties were to groom and ride the horses and prepare the horses for the owners to ride. They were stabled on a livery yard so i had other duties around the families pets and children.
I worked as sole charge groom on a Andalusian Stud, i was solely in charge of the horses welfare, my duties included , feeding, yard duties, worming, organising vets and farriers etc, grooming etc, lunging, long reining and riding, equine first aid, show prep and preparing the horses for travel, care at large stay away shows, competing in the shows in hand and ridden. There were horses ranging from just weaned to breeding adult stallions, mares in foal etc. I received lessons from the head instructor for Wellington Riding Centre weekly.
I worked on a private yard of dressage horses both ridden and retired. I was the sole charge groom and responsible for feeding, all yard and field duties, grooming, tack cleaning, equine first aid, clipping, trimming etc. This was a non riding position however i had my own young horse stabled on the yard.
I worked on a couple of private /livery dressage yards. I was the sole charge groom working with the owner of the yard, I was responsible for the day to day care of the owners and livery horses, my duties were all usual yard and field duties, feeding, grooming, tack cleaning, equine first aid, show prep, clipping trimming, grooming at shows including national championships.
I worked as the yard manager of a large full livery yard where i was responsible for the day to day running of the yard and the welfare of the horses, responding to any queries from the livery owners, dealing with vet and farrier, field maintenance, arena maintenance, assisting with the Pony Club rallies and show and events that were ran on the yard through out the year.
