Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
Ive worked my lifetime with ponies and horses; from pony club and hunting to foaling and yearling prep. I love riding out racehorses, taking horses to the races and more recently working on the stud side of things especially the foaling.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc.
Im a great team player and solo worker, I am passionate beyond words and very organised. The horses will always be the priority and every individual need will be met. I am happy to try anything and have really enjoyed working with the teaser pony, working alongside the vets and farrier’s and doing yearling prep; my real passion is foaling and the veterinary side of it. I have a keen eye for detail and good record keeping skills.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses? The foaling, the horses love, care and the ability to just be, when you’re around them. That each day is different and just the animal themselves; they’re incredible.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve? I want to improve in my foaling skills as there’s always more to learn and also on my people management skills so I can one day be a manager
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker? I am committed, organised and very professional at my job. I have worked with horses for my lifetime and foaling is my passion; supporting new lives into the world and ensuring the welfare, care and wellbeing is being met for every horse. The horses will always come first. I am not a person that will ‘do it tomorrow, I’ll always do it today!’
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job? I want to do foaling and work hands in with the horses, taking their welfare into main consideration. I want to continue in an assistant foaling manager role and attend all foalings
• Do you need accommodation? Yes
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you? Possibly a well behaved dog
• Do you have any ongoing commitments? A horse in training in N.Ireland so will need to attend her races
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of? No
