Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have over 10 years of experience riding, training, and caring for horses. I compete in show jumping up to 105cm and eventing EvA 95cm, while continuing to develop in dressage and show preparation.

My hands-on experience includes:

  • Instructing riding lessons for children (teaching grooming, tacking up, untacking, and riding basics)
  • Caring for and managing up to 5 lesson horses at a time
  • Daily stable duties: mucking out, feeding, watering, and night checks
  • Lunging and exercising horses, including working with young and green horses under trainer guidance
  • Monitoring health and administering medication when needed
  • Assisting with farriers, dentists, and other equine professionals
  • Maintaining fences, water troughs, tack rooms, and feed storage

I have worked as both a horse riding instructor in the USA and as a stable hand in Tasmania, giving me strong adaptability and confidence in different equestrian settings.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

  • Experienced in lunging, exercising, and handling horses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy building a bond with horses through consistent care and training, and seeing their progress over time. I also love being part of a team working towards competition and show preparation goals.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to continue improving my dressage skills and further develop my ability to prepare horses to a professional competition standard.
