Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have over 14 years of equestrian experience, including owning and managing my own horses (pony, hobby horse, and Hungarian sport horse). I was trained for over a decade by Evelin Varga (former working student of Simone Blum), focusing on safety and high professional standards.
- Competition: Results up to 1.00m in Show jumping, and also competed in dressage up to Elementary level (C1), and Preliminary level (E8), demonstrating a strong foundation in flatwork and horse rhythm.
- Stable management: Full-time experience at Savaria Equestrian Club, proficient in feeding, mucking out, and overall facility organisation. Furthermore, I have been actively involved in daily stable operations throughout my life.
- Equine health: I have a strong “eye” for welfare, including identifying lameness, colic symptoms, and following strict veterinary or supplement protocols.
- Schooling: Experienced in refining flatwork and schooling various horse temperaments, including basic work with young horses.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc.
- Technical grooming: Highly efficient at show preparation, tack maintainance, and turning horses out to a high standard.
- Reliability: I am a very fast learner who is equally comfortable working independently or as a part of a busy team.
- Adaptability: Having lived and trained in Hungary and Spain, I am culturally flexible and communicate fluently in English, Spanish and Hungarian.
- Highly coachable and disciplined: I take pride in being a humble learner. I have no ego when it comes to receiving constructive feedback and I am motivated to adapt my methods to match the specific standards of a professional yard.
- Confident but calm handling of spirited or young horses.
- Hand-walking or rehab.
- Proven ability to manage a yard independently or work within a high-pressure team.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
Firstly, I enjoy the process of building a partnership based on trust and routine. I find it greatly satisfying when I find the “optimum” care of the horse, by ensuring every detail of their work and environment is perfect so they can perform at their best. Moreover, I enjoy the selfe of me that is brought out by being around and working with horses.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My whole life, I was looking for opportunities to refine my riding and work with and around horses. While I am efficient at show prep or managing the yard, I am highly motivated to learn new skills that are required in a top-level international yard. I would also like to gather feedback from various professionals on my independent work to find my weaknesses and work on them in the future.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a horse rider who is not afraid to get my hands dirty (literally). I have spent my life in the stable in the past 14 years, since I was 5 years old, and I know that the most important work happens on the ground – mucking out, grooming, rehabilitation and paying attention to the small details that keep a horse healthy. I don’t come with an ego, I don’t come from a privileged background. I come from a place where the deep respect for the sport and the desire to learn and improve were the baseline. My long-term coach, Evelin Varga, can testify that I have developed my skills through consistent effort and perseverance, always arriving to the yard fully prepared and ready to work. I have been trained by multiple excellent coaches, who all taught me that working with horses requires total discipline and a quiet, humble approach to every task. Whether I am preparing a horse for the ring or cleaning tack, I do it with a 100% focus because these are the things that I enjoy most. I am looking for a team where I can prove my reliability and the ability that I am prepared to contribute to the daily success of the stable through hard work and a positive, coachable attitude.
