JOB SUMMARY

  • To work closely with Senior Instructors (HC) to help improving the standard of riders.
  • To ensure the smooth operation of the RTTC stable in Huangcun (HC) by organizing daily activities to meet the operational needs of the training programme. Develop effective stable management plan to maintain highest standard of horsemanship and horse care at the stable.
  • Manage delivery of HC training of racing trainees, mainland work-rider, stable assistant – ensure reaching of HKJC required standard of competency.

 

MAJOR TASKS

1.Training Program in China

  • Work closely and align with Chief Riding Instructor (HK), Chief Instructor (Mainland) and Senior Instructors on riding skills.
  • As a panel to select new recruits in HK and the Mainland.
  • To monitor new recruits’ progress, ensure reaching of Club’s required standard of competency.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of riding program in HC.
  • Overseeing the wellness and fitness of the trainees, work with the warden closely.
  • Select proper horses for training to ensure trainees safety.
  • Provide daily riding video review to all trainees to identify their mistakes for the improvement.
  • Attend and monitor all training in HC to oversee all riding training to ensure trainees following HKJC regulations and reach required standard of competency.
  • Provide mechanical horse training to trainees to improve their technique, stamina and ability.
  • Ensuring trainees are able to control all the horses before they are being promoted to CRC for next level’s training.

2.RTTC stable

Maintain smooth and effective running of stable for sustaining the continual training plans, including:

  • Overseeing the feeds, bedding, supplements for horses to maintain the horse wellness.
  • Prompt medical attention will be sought if a horse becomes ill or shows any signs of abnormalities.
  • Sick horse will be attentively cared for during the convalescence period.
  • Rectal temperatures of all horses are taken twice per day and recorded on the temperature chart.
  • Medication prescribed by the vet and duly given to the horse in the course of treatment.
  • Stable areas including the horse boxes, corridors, horse walker, stable yard etc. are kept clean and tidy.
  • Tack and grooming kits are in good serviceable condition and properly repaired when needed.
  • The Vet’s instructions for the prevention of equine diseases are strictly followed.
  • Liaising with HK Vet to ensure that an adequate number of suitable horses are kept at the RDB stable to meet the training needs.
  • Discussing with the CRC vets and farriers regarding treatment for the horses.
  • All riding gears, such as helmets and body protectors of the riders are inspected at least once a year.
  • Manpower and roster for staffs to maintain effective running of stable.
  1. Train the Trainer
  • Have regular meetings with the training team to improve the quality of trainings.
  1. Undertaking other duties assigned by Executive Manager, RTTC/Headmistress. AJS.

 

QUALIFICATIONS /EXPERIENCE

  • At least 10 years’ experience at managerial grade in racing stable and with teaching experience. Ex- jockey in high level racing competitions.
  • Knowledge in equine subjects.
  • Knowledge in Horse Racing/Equestrian.
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua is an advantage.
