Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I’m good at working in a team and I can work alone too. Handling stallions is something I can do too but it gets better with practice, I enjoy foaling down horses with a team as well. I can work with young stock and broodmares, for my non-equine skills I am good in music, cooking as well, calisthenics athlete which also helps with my endurance to deal with horses at a high end breeding yard
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy the breeding aspects of equine. I enjoy having to work with stallions, broodmares and foals. The veterinary side of things is also one of my favorite aspects.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Stallion Management, it’s good but it can be better you know?
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I believe I stand out from other candidates due to my hands-on experience within a high-performance breeding environment. I have assisted in over 100 foalings at Klawervlei Stud Farm in South Africa, working closely with veterinarians and within structured team systems, including rotating night shifts during peak breeding season.
In addition, I have practical experience with live coverings, including travelling long distances between stud farms to coordinate breeding, while maintaining daily responsibilities and night foaling duties. This has strengthened my ability to perform under pressure, stay disciplined, and maintain high standards of care.
I am confident handling multiple horses, including stallions, and I understand the importance of safety, timing, and teamwork in breeding operations.
Beyond my experience, I bring a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt quickly to new systems. I am highly motivated to contribute to a professional European breeding environment and to continue developing my skills at a high level.
