Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have worked on multiple yard long term and short term depending on what the employer has needed as a freelance groom. I have worked for livery yards, riding schools and production yards as a groom and rider. I have also done some freelance riding/teaching for people on these yards.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to do most jobs on a yard but I specifically enjoy the care of looking after all horses. I have worked on some yards alone so I feel confident in that area and I have been able to smoothly run livery yards whilst owners have been on holiday. I also massively enjoy riding, watching young horses flourish and going out for competition days.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I generally like being around horses which makes my jobs thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding. I like seeing horses improve whether that be under saddle or in their routine.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Id like to improve my clipping, plaiting and bandaging skills as these are all things i’ve done but not confidently and consistently.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am passionate, reliable and hard working and I would like to improve my skills and knowledge in the equestrian field. I have horses myself so I am understanding and calm in situations. I aim to always please and make work an enjoyable place for everyone around me whether that be working alone or among others.
