Future Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I am looking for a more permanent and structured role within a professional yard where I can continue to develop my practical skills alongside my academic knowledge in equine performance and rehabilitation. I’m particularly interested in gaining more experience with competition horses, rehabilitation cases, and further developing my riding and exercise skills. I would also like to be part of a supportive, organised team environment.
• Do you need accommodation?
I am open to roles with or without accommodation depending on location.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
None currently.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I am currently studying Equine Performance and Rehabilitation at university and will be undertaking a placement year from June this year through to September next year. During this time, I am required to complete 504 placement hours, which I am keen to integrate into my role. I am fully committed to working alongside this and see it as an opportunity to further develop my practical skills while contributing positively to the yard.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
None currently booked. (Edit if needed)
Experience with Horses
I have had horses all my life and around 8 years of hands-on experience working on a variety of yards, including competition and general livery environments. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Equine Management and am currently in my second year of a degree in Equine Performance and Rehabilitation.
I have experience in all day-to-day yard duties including mucking out, turning out/bringing in, feeding, grooming, tacking up, and maintaining a clean and organised yard. I am confident handling a range of horses including youngstock and fit competition horses.
I am also a capable rider and able to exercise horses to a high standard, with experience riding a variety of types and temperaments.
Through freelance grooming, I have developed the ability to adapt quickly to different yard routines and expectations, work independently, and maintain a high standard of care. I am now looking to move into a more permanent role where I can continue progressing and contribute consistently to a team.
Key Skills
- Confident with all general yard duties
- Handling young horses and a variety of temperaments
- Riding and exercising horses to a high standard
- Working independently and as part of a team
- High standards of yard organisation and horse care
- Grooming and tacking up for competition horses
- Good understanding of equine fitness and rehabilitation principles (from degree)
- Reliable, adaptable, and quick to learn new systems
- Excellent references available
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy building relationships with horses and seeing their progression over time, whether that’s through training, fitness, or rehabilitation. I also enjoy the routine and variety that comes with yard work, and being part of a team working towards common goals.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I am always looking to further develop my riding and continue building my knowledge and practical experience, particularly within rehabilitation and performance-focused work.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I combine years of practical, hands-on experience with up-to-date academic knowledge from my degree. I am hardworking, reliable, and take pride in maintaining high standards on the yard. My freelance background has made me adaptable and confident in new environments, and I am now looking to bring that experience into a long-term role where I can grow and add real value to a team.
